Amsterdam, Amsterdam brings together 150 years of photographic memory in a meticulously crafted edition. Conceived as a portrait of the city and its citizens through time, the book gathers some of its most defining images into a single, coherent and outstanding produced object.

A PHOTOGRAPHIC PORTRAIT OF AMSTERDAM

Commissioned by Rotaform to mark its 150th anniversary and based on an original lay-out by Anthon Beeke from 1982 revisited from the prespective of 2023, Amsterdam, Amsterdam assembles work from over 100 photographers who have shaped the visual record of the city.

The book is produced with exceptional care: refined papers, tritone printing, a carefully structured flow, underscoring its intention to be both a historical document and a contemporary statement.

Widely noted by the press, selected as one of De Best Verzorgde Boeken of the year, and accompanied by exhibitions across key Amsterdam bookstores, the edition sold out within its first month. When receiving the first copy, the Mayor of Amsterdam described it as an essential work for understanding the city. A clear example of how a book can become an enduring civic icon.
