Launching a contemporary classic

Ambitie
After the successful NL restaurant, Dutch food entrepreneur Inez Bon opens the exclusive wine bar Vyne in New York City. Vyne has the interior design by Oscar nominated production designer Jan Roelf, also responsible for the looks of Gattaca and Orlando. Vyne offers an excellent wine list, designer food and a classical futuristic ambiance. Inez approaches Lopezlab, then commissioned by Studio Anthon Beeke, to shape a contemporary identity for Vyne. The bar should be as alluring as an instant classic.

Approach
The classical appeal of Europe of the 20th Century combined with a futuristic wine palette, that’s Vyne for us. Lopezlab brings together a Dutch typographic design DNA with a visual approach. We combine bold elements and base them on an electric surface of indigo blue. The silhouette of the wine bottle, blown up to monumental proportions, ornaments the different means of communication.

Impact
The branding firstly is applied to all printed matter and commercial expressions, such as banners, flags, menu cards and napkins, but is also used for style choices on the level of the interior. This design strengthens the visual identity of this trendy establishment in New York’s Greenwich Village: an instant classic is born.
